Kiwanis' Orphan Books Host book fair

Kiwanis' Orphan Books is hosting a book fair at the FAMU Irene C. Edmonds Youth Camp. The camp is celebrating 15 years of theater production. The participants are between the ages of 7 to 16. The five week camp is housed in the Charles Winter Wood Theatre on the campus of Florida A & M University. Valencia Matthews, director of theater decided to encourage her campers to read as much as they perform. The book fair will provide books, DVDs, music and educational resources to the all the kids and families who participated in the camp.
K.O.B. receives new and gently used items from small businesses and private donors. The book fair will provide an excitement for reading and boost performance. Research has shown that better readers perform above their competitors and have greater voice diction than their peers. Reading on a regular can afford theater campers a comfort style of reading plays. Participants will be encourage to read books of their choice as is it was a script. Make the characters come alive, use voice diction and projection to speak the patron at the back of the theater.
The kids will soon develop a passion for reading and realize a meaningful purpose. The children will read while applying theater skills learned during the workshops and classroom lessons at camp. This positive impact could also boost the self esteem.
K.O.B. has developed tools to ensure the book fair maintains a positive image. Advertising and media executions and public relations all provide exposure that will benefit the firm significantly. Goody bags have been prepared for all 33 kids and their families which are provided at the book fair. The bags contain my business cards which are effective but inexpensive to market our firm. Attendees can also sign up for our monthly newsletter, "Readers Are Winners." These tools allow the firm to deliver a message to our target audience. Lastly, the mascot, Hazelexa will appear at the book fair to take photo and hand out books to kids. Our goal is to reach and expand globally. The book fair at the Ice Camp gives us a good start.
